Dear Sisters and Friends,
As we start off 2014, we want to share with you a summary of the past year.
2013 was a turning point for Women of the Wall.
As you may recall, the first part of 2013 was plagued by the mid-prayer arrests of over 40 women in the women's section of the Kotel each month on Rosh Hodesh. The women were led out by police, wrapped in tallitot and tefillin, singing all the way to the police station. These images attracted international attention and action- on the grassroots level, in Jewish communities, in the international media and all over Israel.
 In April, 2013 we achieved a momentous legal victory. Judge Sobol, a district court judge, ruled that the five women who had been arrested in March for praying at the Western Wall with tallit and tefillin were not committing a crime. Sobol's groundbreaking decision recognized the legitimacy of WOW's prayer customs and explicitly stated that the "the prayer custom at the Western Wall is not necessarily only orthodox." As a result, since Rosh Hodesh Sivan, May 2013 we have been gathering in the women's section, praying out loud with tallitot and tefillin each month with the protection of the police from the violent protests of thousands of ultra-Orthodox opponents to our prayer services.
During these months protesters threw garbage, water and eggs, and hurled curses and insults over police barriers at us.  Women of the Wall board members have been personally targeted in the media and been the victims of vandalism in their homes. The good news is that we also had the great fortune to joyfully celebrate the Bnot Mitzvah of several Israeli and American girls, singing and dancing with them, their mothers and grandmothers.
Through this all, we stayed strong and in November we celebrated a joyous 25th Anniversary of Women of the Wall's first prayer in 1988, with more than 1,000 women and men praying together at the Kotel. Many thousands more joined us in world-wide solidarity events. We could not have wished for a better culmination to 25 years of struggle and in 2013, a year of miraculous successes.
To give you an idea of the numeric impact of the past year: Each month, 250-300 women routinely attend Rosh Hodesh services with us at the Kotel; nearly 16,000 people "Like" us on Facebook in English, and in the first year since we began our Hebrew page, nearly 6,000 Israelis "Like" us . We also have more than 4,000 followers on Twitter and our email newsletter reaches nearly 5,000 people. In the mainstream media, our reach is unprecedented! We received more than 7,000 mentions in the mainstream media in 2013 in 78 countries, covering every continent in the world.
The road ahead of us remains long and possibly arduous. We are in the middle of an important and controversial negotiation with Cabinet Secretary, Avichai Mendelblit. This process is an honest and sincere attempt on behalf of the government to ensure that every man and woman who comes to the Kotel can pray according to their tradition in a respectful way. Women of the Wall are taking center stage in the process of re-designing the Western Wall in such a way that reflects the true make-up of Israel and the Jewish people. This is a hard-won honor and comes with a high degree of responsibility which we take very seriously.
 The struggle is far from over. We have yet to reach agreement in the negotiations, and even once an agreement is reached, its implementation will take time. In the meantime, women are still forbidden access to Torah. Women of the Wall are not allowed to bring in our Torah scroll and read from it. Also, despite our repeated requests to Rabbi Rabinowitz, the rabbi overseeing the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, we have been refused the right to use any of the hundreds of torah scrolls which have been donated "for public use" at the Kotel. We are continuing our struggle to ensure that we fulfill all our goals including reading from the torah in the Women's Section of the Kotel.

תומכות וחברות, חברים ותומכים, שלום רב,
עם כניסתה של שנת 2014, אנו רוצות לסכם עימכן את השנה החולפת, שנת 2013 .
שנה זו תיזכר כשנת מפנה ופריצה היסטורית בתולדות המאבק שלנו.
ברבעון הראשון של השנה, נעצרו על ידי משטרת ישראל למעלה מ-40 חברות במהלך תפילות ראש חודש שהתקיימו בעזרת הנשים בכותל. חברות הקבוצה עוכבו לחקירה ולעיתים הובלו קשורות באזיקים לתחנת המשטרה. העבירה שבגינה נעצרו הייתה "קיום טקס דתי בניגוד למנהג המקום הפוגע ברגשותיהן של אחרים". הטקס הדתי "הפוגע" היה התעטפות בטלית, תפילה בקול רם והנחת תפילין.
תמונותיהן של מתפללות יהודיות מובלות על ידי שוטרות, משכו תשומת לב תקשורתית בזירה המקומית והבינלאומית, מה שהביא  לפעולות מחאה רבות בארץ ובקהילות יהודיות בעולם.
בעקבות המעצרים הללו, הובא הנושא לדיון בבית המשפט המחוזי בפני השופט סובל בחודש אפריל 2013 . כך זכינו למתן פסק דין היסטורי כשלראשונה בתולדות המאבק שלנו, נקבע כי נשות הכותל תוכלנה להתפלל כמנהגן כדרכן, עם טלית ותפילין, תוך כדי שירה בקול רם בעזרת הנשים.
מאז, מראש חודש סיוון, מאי 13 , ועד עתה, אנו מתפללות כדרכינו ,חלקינו עם טליתות, חלקינו גם עם תפילין וכולנו יחד בשירה ובקול – וזאת מידי חודש בחודשו , כאשר משטרת ישראל ממלאת את תפקידה ומגינה עלינו פיזית מפני מאות ואלפי מפגינות ומפגינים חרדיים המבקשים למחות על נוכחותנו ומנהגינו.
למרות קולות המחאה, זכינו לכמה תפילות מרגשות במיוחד ובהן חגגנו "בת-מצווה" לכמה נערות ישראליות ואמריקאיות , בשיר ובשמחה, יחד עם אימהותיהן וסבתותיהן.
אירועי שנת ה-25:
 את תפילת ראש חודש כסלו הקדשנו לציון 25 שנה לתפילה הראשונה של נשות הכותל בשנת 1988 : למעלה מ- 1000 חברות שלנו מילאו את רחבת עזרת הנשים. חלקן הגיעו במיוחד מחו"ל להשתתף באירוע זה, ולצדן מאות חברות ישראליות, מצפון הארץ ומדרומה. זו הייתה תפילת הודיה מיוחדת וחגיגית, תפילה שהפכה למפגן תמיכה וסולידריות בין העומדות בירושלים לבין אחיותינו, התומכות ברחבי הארץ והעולם.
עם סיומה של התפילה, המשכנו ליום שכולו לימוד והודיה לציון 25 שנות מאבק נשות הכותל ותרומת הארגון למעמד האישה וחופש הפולחן בחברה הישראלית. ביום זה השתתפו כ-200 צעירות וצעירים ישראלים ממכינות קדם צבאיות מרחבי הארץ ועוד למעלה מ-400 תומכות ותומכים . היה מרתק.
עם סיומה של שנת 2013, ניתן לומר כי תפילת נשות הכותל המתקיימת כשאנו עטופות בטליתות, תפילין ושרות בקול רם- הפכה כמעט לשגרה . קבוצתנו התחזקה וגדלה ומונה באופן קבוע בין 250-300 מתפללות - מרביתן ישראליות.
הישגים בתחום החינוך וההדרכה:
אנו רואות חשיבות רבה בהסברה ובפעילות חינוכית לקבוצות, מוסדות וארגונים. חברות ההנהלה כמו גם חברות הצוות הוזמנו
במהלך 2013 להרצות בפני אלפי נשים ואנשים, הן קבוצות תלמידות ותלמידים, סטודנטים, ארגוני נשים, נשות ואנשי חינוך, אנשי תקשורת, פעילות ופעילים חברתיים ועוד. כמו כן, הוזמנו והופענו באירועים ציבוריים רבים לצד ארגוני נשים נוספים וארגונים לשינוי חברתי בישראל.
הישגים בתחום המדיה והתקשורת:
בעמודי הפייסבוק של הארגון באנגלית ובעברית, יש לנו למעלה מ-22,000 "לייקים"; למעלה מ-4000 עוקבים בטוויטר, ורשימת התפוצה כוללת 5000 חברות וחברים.
'נשות הכותל' הוזכרו בלמעלה מ-7000 כתבות, דיווחים, בלוגים, פוסטים וכיו'. חשיפה זו חובקת עולם, ומתפרשת על פני 78 מדינות שונות!
היינו כחולמות!

לצד הדרך הארוכה והמוצלחת עד כה, יש לנו אתגרים גדולים וחשובים המחכים לנו בעת הזאת:
כידוע לכן, מזה כמה חודשים שאנו מנהלות מו"מ עם מזכיר ממשלת ישראל בניסיון להגיע להבנות ולהסכם ביחס להקמתו וניהולו של מקום תפילה מכבד ושוויוני חדש אשר יוקם בדרומה של רחבת הכותל הנוכחית. נשות הכותל רואות במהלך זה של ממשלת ישראל ניסיון כנה אשר נועד לאפשר לכל איש ואישה הבאים לכותל להתפלל כדרכם ועל פי מנהגם באופן המכיר ומכבד את כל הזרמים ביהדות.
זוהי אחריות גדולה להיות שותפות מרכזיות במהלך אשר ישנה את פני החברה בישראל. 
המאבק לא תם. ההסכמות לא סוכמו ויעבור עוד זמן רב עד למימושן בפועל.
עד אז, לא נרפה ולא נפסיק את תפילותינו ומאבקינו למימוש מלא של זכויותינו הדתיות.
לצערנו, עד לרגע זה עדיין נאסרת עלינו קריאה מתוך ספר תורה ברחבת הכותל – אנו מתכוונות להילחם למימוש זכות זאת עד לביטול האיסור והחזרת ספר התורה לעזרת הנשים על פי הדין והצדק.
ובינתיים, אנו מבקשות להודות לכן, חברות ושותפות למסע הארוך שלנו, תודה על מעורבות וערבות, תודה על מילות עידוד ותמיכה המגיעות מקצה הארץ ועד קציה.
