Update on Negotiations with the Israeli Government Government negotiations, in which Women of the Wall engaged in coalition with the Conservative and Reform movements in Israel and abroad and the North American Federations, have been stopped due to upcoming elections.  The Israeli government today is a transitional government and cannot reach any agreements or decisions, include that involving Women of the Wall.  We believe that after elections, a government will be assembled and we will resume negotiations from the place where we last left off. This process, as in all political negotiation, is complicated and done in full discretion.   At first, non-Orthodox rabbinical students were told the Knesset synagogue was unavailable because it was in use. Only later were they informed it was reserved exclusively for Orthodox prayer services.

בואו לראש חודש כסליו בכותל  הצטרפו אלנו למרתון ירושלים Rosh Hodesh Kislev at the Kotel Join our Jerusalem Marathon Team View this email in your browser Facebook Twitter Website אתר Email צרו קשר YouTube פייסבוק English follows the Hebrew הצטרפו לנשות הכותל, לתפילת ראש חודש כסלו, 23 נובמבר 2014, החודש בו אנו מציינות את הניסים הגדולים בהיסטוריה היהודית ואת ניצחון האור על החושך. בחודש שעבר, עשינו היסטוריה כשקראנו בספר התורה בטקס בת המצווה הראשון עם ספר תורה, שהתקיים בעזרת הנשים. מחנוכה אנו למדות כי המכבים היו מעטים ועם זאת נלחמו בנחישות נגד השלטון הרודני. הם הובילו מרד ששחרר את היהודים והתיר להם לקיים את מנהגיהם בבית המקדש. בדומה למכבים, נשות הכותל מובילות את המאבק לשחרור הכותל, נגד מי שמעוניין למנוע מנשים יהודיות השתתפות בתפילה ובפולחן. בראש חודש כסלו, תתכנסנה נשות הכותל כהרגלן להתפלל ולקרוא בתורה, בעזרת הנשים בכותל. הרב שמואל רבינוביץ' הודיע כי יעשה הכל כדי למנוע מאתנו את הגישה לספר התורה בחודש זה. כולנו חייבות/ים להתאחד כדי להיאבק נגד גזירה זאת ולהבטיח את ניצחון האור על חושך ואת ניצחון החופש על הדיכוי. כפי שאנטיוכוס אסר לקיים מנהגים יהודים בירושלים בשנת 167 לפני הספירה, ישנם רבנים האוסרים על נשים לקיים טקסים יהודים ואת הגישה לספר התורה, בירושלים 2014. אנו מזמינות את כל תומכינו ללהצטרף אלינו לכותל המערבי ב23 נבמבר 2014 בשעה 7:00 בבוקר בתקווה שבחודש הניסים נסמן ניצחון לזכויות הנשים, לחופש הביטוי ולחופש הדת בירושלים.  לאירוע בפייסבוק להרשמה להסעות Join Women of the Wall on November 23, 2014 at the Western Wall to welcome the month of Kislev, the month when we celebrate miracles in Jewish history and the victory of light over dark.  Last month, we made history by reading Torah openly at the Western Wall and holding the first bat mitzvah in the women's section with the Torah. Just as Antiochus banned Jewish practice and event the brit milah, circumcision, in Jerusalem in 167 BCE as we know  from the beginning of the story of Chanukah, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz has banned women from practicing Jewish rituals, specifically, accessing Torah in Jerusalem in 2014. From Chanukah we learn that the Maccabees, though few in number and  fighting against a tyrannic rule,  led a revolt that freed Jews to practices their traditions in the Temple. As the modern day Maccabees, Women of the Wall have been leading the struggle to liberate the Kotel from those who wish to remove all trace of Jewish women's involvement in ritual life. On Rosh Hodesh Kislev 5775 Women of the Wall will once again gather to pray, and read Torah, in the women's section of the Kotel. Rabbi Rabinowitz has sworn to prevent women from accessing Torah this month.
