Join Women of the Wall on November 23, 2014 at the Western Wall to welcome the month of Kislev, the month when we celebrate miracles in Jewish history and the victory of light over dark.

Last month, we made history by reading Torah openly at the Western Wall and holding the first bat mitzvah in the women's section with the Torah. Just as Antiochus banned Jewish practice and event the brit milah, circumcision, in Jerusalem in 167 BCE as we know  from the beginning of the story of Chanukah, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz has banned women from practicing Jewish rituals, specifically, accessing Torah in Jerusalem in 2014.

From Chanukah we learn that the Maccabees, though few in number and  fighting against a tyrannic rule,  led a revolt that freed Jews to practices their traditions in the Temple. As the modern day Maccabees, Women of the Wall have been leading the struggle to liberate the Kotel from those who wish to remove all trace of Jewish women's involvement in ritual life.

On Rosh Hodesh Kislev 5775 Women of the Wall will once again gather to pray, and read Torah, in the women's section of the Kotel. Rabbi Rabinowitz has sworn to prevent women from accessing Torah this month. We must join together to demand this right, to ensure the victory of light over darkness, religious freedom over oppression.
Women of the Wall call on all supporters to meet at the Western Wall in the women's section at 7:00 AM on Rosh Hodesh Kislev, November 23, 2014 to pray for triumph of women's rights, freedom of expression and religious freedom in Jerusalem.

Breaking News from Women of the Wall:

Women of the Wall Launch Public Bus Campaign: "Mom, I Too Want a Bat Mitzvah at the Kotel"
On Sunday, October 12, 2014 Women of the Wall launched an ad campaign on Jerusalem public busses promoting Bat Mitzvah ceremonies for girls at the Western Wall (Kotel). The first ever of their kind, the campaign ads feature Israeli girls wearing a Tallit, traditional Jewish prayer shawl, and holding a Torah scroll in front of the Western Wall. The ads read in Hebrew: "Mom, I too want a bat mitzvah at the Kotel" and "V'zot Hatorah: Now it is my turn."  Read more>>
Invitation to an historic Rosh Hodesh at the Kotel
Join Women of the Wall as we pray and read Torah from a Torah scroll in the women's section of the Kotel on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 7:00 AM. Register for transportation (one way from Gan Hapaamon, Jerusalem) now.
For over 25 years women have been refused access to a Torah scroll at the Western Wall.  Torah stands at the center of our tradition- it is what binds all Jews across denominations. All Jews, men and women alike, received the Torah together at Mt. Sinai. Women and girls must be allowed equal rights in the public sphere in Israel and equal access to Torah scrolls in the holiest site to the Jewish people, the Kotel.
Do not miss the chance to be a part of this momentous occasion and bring your family and friends to join us.
Jerusalem Marathon: Women of the Wall are running the Jerusalem Marathon as a team for the second year! Save the date! Friday March 13, 2015  More details to follow.
