Monthly Summary – December 2013
December 2013 saw a significant decrease in the number of terror attacks: 104 attacks as opposed to 167 in November. The main decrease is noted in Judea and Samaria with 69 attacks as opposed to 107 in November. There is also a decrease in Jerusalem with 26 attacks as opposed to 53 in November.

However, there was an increase in the number of attacks coming from the Gaza Strip with 8 attacks as opposed to 5 in November.

A shooting attack from Gaza near Nahal Oz left a dead civilian (December 24). A police officer was severely wounded in a stabbing attack (December 23) near Adam (Judea area). A police sapper was lightly wounded due to an explosive device which took off in a Bat Yam bus, within the Green Line (December 22). All the bus passengers got safely off the bus soon after the device was spotted.



Data regarding terror attacks in December 2013
Following is a regional distribution of attacks:

8 attack from the Gaza Strip (5 in November); 69 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (107 in November); 26 attacks in Jerusalem (53 in November); 1 within the "Green Line" (2 in November).

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in December 95 out of 76 were in the form of firebombs (November: 135 out of 160).


Distribution of attacks according to regions and pattern profile:
Following is a distribution of attacks in December 2013 according to regions:

The Gaza Strip – 8 attacks: 4 rocket launchings; 3 small arms shootings; 1 firebomb towards IDF patrol near Kfar Aza.

Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 69 attacks: 15 IED; 3 small arms shootings; 1 stabbing attack; 76 firebombs (23 in Jerusalem).

The Green Line – 1 IED (in Bat Yam).


High-trajectory launchings from Gaza Strip and Sinai
Throughout December 2013 four rockets were launched towards Israel, in four attacks, as opposed to November: five mortar shells (in four attacks).
