International Women's Day 2015: grants for voluntary and community groups

To highlight women’s achievements and the struggle for gender equality, Manchester will be marking International Women’s Day in March 2015.
The theme for Manchester International Women’s Day 2015 is Breaking Through.
Wherever you look in Manchester, nationally and internationally there are women breaking through; they are changing perceptions about what women are and what women can do. They are defying convention, expectation and criticism to pursue their dreams, reach their potential and enrich their life experience.
Manchester women have been inspired by those who led the way in Manchester and beyond. They follow pioneering footsteps, challenging stereotypes and assumptions, to change their own lives and inspire the women around them. They are breaking through in all areas, including: sport, science, politics, religion, education, community activism, rights, health, media, legal and business and across the professions.
International Women’s Day is the opportunity to share their diverse and unique stories and learn more about these women.
Apply for a grant
If you live in the city of Manchester and have an idea for an event or activity that would educate, engage and inspire women – then please get in touch! If you know women’s groups that can engage with women in their community, then help us spread the word.
You can apply for a grant for as little as £100, maybe to cover the cost of hiring a venue to £1000 for a longer event that will appeal to women city wide.
We have designed the grants process to make it as pain free as possible. We welcome applications from those that have previously applied and new applicants.
The closing date for applications is: Monday 27 October 2014.
