The Disappearance of Indigenous Women: Whose Issue?
Author Lee Maracle (U of T First Nations House) talks about the continuing violence against indigenous women--its origins and history in Canada's settlement--hitting on the apathy of the forces of justice and the resistance of the current government to conduct an inquiry. From the Pickton case, the Highway of Tears and the barbershop murders in B. C. to the RCMP study and the Native Women's Association research, she presents this a Canadian issue and calls on women to support only those parties who are prepared to conduct an inquiry. An International Women's Day event.
