With spring around the corner we have an exciting range of uniquely SOAS events to give your March an interesting twist. A sample of SOAS Events in March 2014 are listed below:
 

Professor Laurence Smith Inaugural Lecture: Taking Care of our Waters: People, Policy and Practice

5 March, 6.30pm, Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre
Our health, wellbeing, economy and environment depend on our stewardship of water resources, but conserving and protecting our waters presents difficult challenges and choices in every region of the world. With a focus on protection of water at source, this lecture will explore the characteristics and complexities of these challenges. It will draw on recent research and international experience to identify successful approaches.

SOAS Concert Series: Featuring Goran Farkas, Habelas Hainas & the Andy May Quartet
7 March, 7pm, Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre
An evening to showcase the many & varied traditions of the bagpipe from around Europe, featuring three artists, all masters in their respective regional styles: Goran Farkaš(Croatia) plays the Istrian bagpipes and is also an accomplished singer and dancer.

Intersections: Critical Race and Black British Feminism, a conversation with Kimberle Crenshaw
24 March, 6pm, Khalili Lecture Theatre
Talk
Kimberle Crenshaw has written in the areas of civil rights, black feminist legal theory, and race, racism and the law.  Her work has appeared in the Harvard Law Review, the National Black Law Journal, the Stanford Law Review, and the Southern California Law Review. She was a founding coordinator of the Critical Race Theory workshop; coeditor of Critical Race Theory: Key Documents That Shaped the Movement.
