Civil Society Dialogue on Transitional Justice in East Africa and the Balkans: Conference Report

We are pleased to share with you this report, which summarizes the key issues and ideas that emerged from the Civil Society Dialogue on Transitional Justice in East Africa and the Balkans, convened by LSE Security in Transition and held at the British Institute in East Africa in Nairobi. The dialogue brought together activists working on accountability and justice for atrocity crimes from Kenya, Uganda and the former Yugoslavia. The report discusses the role of civil society actors in responding to ongoing human rights violations, triggering debates over justice in the public sphere, engaging with transitional justice processes and mechanisms, and creating autonomous spaces for debate and activism outside formal justice processes.

With best wishes,
Security in Transition
