THE WEEK AHEAD at the UN SECURITY COUNCIL
2 to 6 March 2015
Dear Debra,
This week the UN Security Council plans to adopt its programme of work for the month of March when France holds the presidency.
Council members have been negotiating a draft resolution, possibly to be adopted as early as this week, that underscores the Council's willingness to impose targeted sanctions on spoilers in South Sudan and establishes a UN sanctions committee and panel of experts.
In addition, Council members are expected to hold consultations on Yemen's political crisis, as requested in resolution 2201, and on Syrian chemical weapons. Resolutions will likely be adopted to renew the UN Support Mission in Libya, the 2146 measures on the illicit export of oil from Libya as well as the mandate of the Panel of Experts that assists the 1718 DPRK Sanctions Committee.
Background information has been published on these issues in the March 2015 Monthly Forecast.Throughout the week further Council developments will be posted to SCR's What's In Blue.
