Election Night 2015: 20 Seat Results Not To Miss Including Clegg, Farage And Salmond

Posted: Updated:

There are 650 MPs being elected on Thursday. The results of who has won and who has lost will trickle in from the early hours of Friday morning. But of those, some are a little bit more interesting than others. Big beasts may fall. And others may arrive.
Identified below are 20 of the most interesting fights and what time to look out for them on election night. The list includes Nick Clegg's fight to hold Sheffield Hallam, Jim Murphy's battle with the SNP in East Renfrewshire and Nigel Farage's tight race in South Thanet.
Our picks are, of course, not the only seats to watch. Stephen Bush's run-down at the New Statesman and Alberto Nardelli's analysis at The Guardianare worth a look. We also have a full list of every seat in time order, where you can find your own constituency, here.

As part of the SNP surge, Labour's campaign chief and shadow foreign secretary faces a humiliating defeat to the Scottish nationalist's 20-year-old Mhairi Black.
PAISLEY & RENFREWSHIRE SOUTHLAB
3:00 AMJIM MURPHY
The biggest casualty for Labour could be its Scottish leader, who, like all MPs in Scotland, is under threat from the SNP.
EAST RENFREWSHIRELAB
3:00 AMSIMON HUGHES
The Lib Dem deputy leader should be a bright spot for the party. The London MP is the ultimate incumbent and Labour are finding him hard to shift. If he loses, the Lib Dems are in for a terrible evening.
BERMONDSEY & SOUTHWARKLIB DEM
3:00 AMLYNNE FEATHERSTONE
Veteran Lib Dem and Home Office minister faces the chop. Senior London Labour figures believe her seat is "in the bag"
HORNSEY & WOOD GREENLIB DEM
3.30 AMNICKY MORGAN
The education secretary and potentialmodernising leadership candidate has a highly marginal seat. An Ashcroft poll has shown her narrowly clinging on, but Labour would love to take out a cabinet minister. The party that wins here, traditionally also goes on to form the government.

4:00 AMALISTAIR CARMICHAEL
If the Lib Dem Scottish secretary loses his seat to the SNP then Nicola Sturgeon is having a great night and Nick Clegg is not
ORKNEY & SHETLANDLIB DEM
4:00 AMVINCE CABLE
Lib Dem business secretary should cling on, but David Cameron spent time campaigning in the south London seat in the last week of the campaign perhaps sensing an upset
TWICKENHAMLIB DEM
4:00 AMTIM FARRON
There is almost no chance Farron is losing his seat - however it's worth watching theLib Dem leadership favourite's victory speech for clues about the future of his party.
WESTMORLAND & LONSDALELIB DEM
4:00 AMED MILIBAND
The Labour leader could be on the cusp of power, worth tuning in to hear what he has to say and what message he wants to take into the morning in a tussle for power.
DONCASTER NORTHLAB
4.30 AMDAVID CAMERON
The prime minister will walk it home in Oxfordshire, but could he spend the 2015 parliament as a mere backbencher? Like with Miliband, watch for the tone of his speech.
WITNEYCON
4:30 AMNICK CLEGG
This could be the result of the night. If Labour manage to decapitate the Lib Dem leader in what has been a tight race it will be a disaster for the party. His defeat would also change the dynamic of any hung parliament negotiations.
SHEFFIELD HALLAMLIB DEM
4:30 AMDOUGLAS CARSWELL
Ukip's first elected MP should be returning to parliament, but he may very well be the only member of Nigel Farage's 'People's Army' that makes it.
CLACTONUKIP
4:30 AMALEX SALMOND
The SNP's former leader is bidding for a return to Westminster and its pink champagne. Despite holding no formal party position he will be hard to ignore.
GORDONLIB DEM
5:00 AMDANNY ALEXANDER
The Lib Dem chief secretary to the Treasury is likely to be a high profile decapitation by the SNP. He could be the new Portillo
INVERNESS, NAIRN, BADENOCH & STRATHSPEYLIB DEM
5:00 AMESTHER MCVEY
Of all the senior Tories under threat, the employment is most vulnerable. Labour would love to wipe the Conservatives out of Merseyside
WIRRAL WESTCON
5:00 AMGEORGE GALLOWAY
The firebrand Respect MP has said he will run for London mayor if he loses his Commons seat. His individual race, he claims, is being watched from "Manhattan to Mirpur to Baghdad”.
BRADFORD WESTRESPECT
5:00 AMCAROLINE LUCAS
The Green's only MP will probably remain the party's only MP. Labour will have a tough time ousting the former (and future?) Green leader who remains incredibly popular locally..
BRIGHTON PAVILLIONGREEN
6:00 AMNIGEL FARAGE
The Ukip leader has bet everything on winning a seat on the Kent coast. If he loses this tight three-way race his leadership of the party is over - and so might be the party itself.
SOUTH THANETCON
6:00 AMBORIS JOHNSON
Depending on how the night has gone for Cameron and the Conservatives, Boris' victory speech could be the start of his Tory leadership campaign.
UXBRIDGE & RUISLIP SOUTHCON
7:00 AMCHARLES KENNEDY
The former Lib Dem leader was the only MP in the party who did not endorse the coalition with the Tories in 2010. But even that might not be enough to save him from the SNP.
