Annual General Meeting 2017

Our Annual General Meeting and event on 'Shariah Councils and Muslim Women' took place on the 2nd November 2017 at the House of Commons, Westminster.

The day included an overview of MWNUK's activities over the past year, a review of our governance, and end of year accounts. It also provided a great opportunity for members to meet each other to share information and the work they do.

Panel Discussion:
"Shariah Councils and Muslim Women"

We had a fantastic panel who gave us a lot to think about going forward. Many thanks again to Naz Shah MP for hosting us at the House of Commons and our wonderful panelists Nazia Rashid (Senior Associate at Anthony Gold Solicitors) and Iman Islam Uddin (Phd Candidate at the University of Middlesex) and our very own Chair Shaista Gohir, who all highlighted different aspects of the challenges of Muslim marriage and divorce in relation to Shariah Councils.
